Lego Pedometer Cheating Machines
The building instructions for these Lego machines are found on patient forums on YouTube. They are DIY devices made to cheat the phone’s pedometer and thus get around requirements from insurance companies for shared health data and activity goals.
Lego Pedometer Cheating Machines were first shown in Insurgency of Life (2019) at e-flux, New York, and have subsequently been exhibited in Sick architecture (2022), CIVA, Brussels; Swedish Acquisitions: Matches (2022), Moderna museet, Stockholm; and Flare-Up (2025), Accelerator, Stockholm. The work was acquired by Moderna museet, Stockholm, in 2021.
